Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that can happen when you devote too much time to caring for someone else without getting enough support for yourself.

Warning Signs

  • Feeling overwhelmed or constantly worried
  • Feeling tired most of the time
  • Getting too little or too much sleep
  • Withdrawing from friends, family, and activities you used to enjoy
  • Feeling a sense of hopelessness

How Respite Care Helps

Respite care provides temporary relief by bringing in a trained caregiver to take over — for a few hours, a day, or longer. This gives family caregivers time to rest, attend appointments, or simply recharge.
